Ocean Magazine

The objective for this project was to design a magazine from cover to back. This included the name of the magazine, the contents within the magazine, and front and back covers of the magazine. Below is not only the process but the outcome of many choices I made using Adobe InDesign and Photoshop.

The conclusion

This project was originally a lot to take on seeing as how I did not know much about magazines to start with. All the content was up to me to figure out and I was very unfamiliar of how to set up the articles. For that reason I did a lot of research. I found magazines and would just look through them to get the idea of the layout on real world magazines. Since the basis of my magazine was the ocean and sea life, I kept the articles relevant.

I learned so much about the typography and creating dynamic layouts. Long blocks of text are not the best of friends for a designer. They can be very intimidating at times but I persevered nonetheless. Putting hierarchy to the test was fun with all the articles and even the band advertisement. This is a project any designer could get a lot out of!
